A storefront sign works hardest at the moment you are not there to sell — after dark, when the only thing speaking for your shop is the light above the door. These are the symptoms worth acting on.
1. Sections of the illumination have gone dark
Partial failure reads worse than no illumination at all. It tells the street that the business is not maintained. It usually points at a failed driver or water ingress rather than the modules themselves.
2. The face has yellowed or chalked
Acrylic and printed film both fade under sustained UV. Once the white has shifted, no cleaning brings it back, and the colour no longer matches your other branding.
3. There is staining below the sign
Streaks on the facade under a sign mean the housing is holding water. Left alone, that water reaches the electrics and the fixings.
4. The fixings have started to rust
Rust bleed around the mounts means the wrong grade of fastener went in. Near the coast this happens quickly, and it is a safety issue before it is a cosmetic one.
5. The sign no longer matches your business
A changed name, an added service line, or a refreshed brand leaves the old sign contradicting the shop behind it. Replacing it is the cheapest brand work you will do.
